Not Work Related is the company of architect turned ceramicist Sarah Hussaini. Started in 2017 and based in Brooklyn, it takes a playful approach to household ceramics.
ABOUT THE STUDIO
After getting a masters degree from Columbia University and working several years in architecture, Sarah made the slow accidental transition into ceramics. The studio uses the skills and design thinking from her background to make pieces that reflect the intersection between digital and physical product.
Concepts are oftentimes explored through 3d models and 2d illustrations and are then mapped onto ceramic surfaces
Most recently, Sarah has been exploring the next progression of this work through atmospheric firing. This has resulted in a collaborative moment between the meticulous measurements and the unpredictability of the fire in which they are placed.
